Una de las cosas mas ambiciosas de Ecotrackers es la de operar como una forma diferente de aprender y enseñar sin muros y hacer de aprender la mejor aventura de la vida, un motivo de eterna inspiración personal y para otras personas.
Es así como en el año 2010 estuvieron con nosotros Vum Lin y Ian Dunney, Vun una doctora de Malasia que trabajaba en Inglaterra y Ian un profesor de medios de comunicación en Manchester.
A ella le encantaba un deporte de alto riesgo la escalada y se trepaba por paredes naturales.
Es precisamente por esta actividad que en el mes de julio, en las montañas de Escocia Vun sufrió un accidente mortal.
Con Vun y Ian hicimos tres documentales, uno sobre los indígenas Tzachilas, otro sobre los indígenas Chachis y finalmente un documental sobre los primeros promotores de salud que era un grupo étnico afro-montubio de Esmeraldas, la provincia mas septentrional del la Costa ecuatoriana.
Filmamos también sobre los Shwar en la Amazonía, pero hasta el momento no he podido hacer la edición de ese material, Me gustaría hacer con Ian la edición de ese material como un regalo póstumo a Vun.
En el proceso de hacer los documentales, Ian y Vun a más de practicar el español, pudieron vivir en las comunidades indígenas, y conocer su historia, su entorno natural, su riqueza espiritual, y conocerlos por la comida, por los bailes, o las enfermedades curando a los enfermos o enseñando a los médicos, pudieron sorprenderse con la forma de vincularse de los indígenas con la biodiversidad de cada lugar y entre sí, con los que no eran de su etnia, o con los extranjeros.
Este fue un aprendizaje vivencial completamente real, sensible, emotivo. Otra forma de aprender muy diferente que aprender en una aula, entre los muros de una universidad para dar un examen, o para repetir lo que dijo el profesor o dice algún libro. Se trataba de encontrar, la memoria escrita y hablada, las personas, los lugares, los momentos, la vida misma de indígenas, animales y plantas, de descubrir sus vínculos y de convertirse protectores de la biodiversidad, la diversidad cultural y de la salud humana en nuestro planeta, mediante es uso de la imagen, la palabra y las curaciones, las vivencia convertidas, en tiempo que a continuación les presentamos:
Para nosotros perder a Vun Lin ha significado un duro golpe moral, ella era nuestra voz de aliento desde Inglaterra.

For us to lose Vun Lin has meant a hard moral blow, she was our voice of encouragement from England.
