The aim of Ecotrackers Foundation is to preserve the cultural and biological diversity of Ecuador. Working with indigenous communities, in the rainforest, the sierra, and at the coast. We cooperate to develop sustainable livelihoods through community based ecotourism and related projects. Ecotrackers works to develop a form of tourism that is both intelligent and sensitive to its impact on local populations. Such tourism offers people from different worlds the opportunity to learn from each other while experiencing another culture and different relationships with the natural world
COMMUNITY BASED ECOTOURISM
Community based ecotourism is a sustainable form of tourism, designed in a culturally appropriate manner. It encourages communities to protect their resources while generating profits for local reinvestment.
Community based ecotourism provides an alternative to communities struggling to survive in our globalizing world, offering a sustainable, long term source of income and more secure future for the community.
Ecotrackers works with indigenous and rural communities across Ecuador to help them to develop sustainable livelihoods. We encourage local populations to perceive their cultural and environment as a resource, encouraging the protection of both. Ecotrackers sends international volunteers, students and interns to these communities to develop the community based ecotourism programs, including assisting in the development of community infrastructure to support tourism. We strive to develop integrated projects, which take a community form the initial stages to a fully functioning program, and to aid in the marketing and promotion of each project.
